Make Everyone Feel Welcome

The facilitator begins the meeting by welcoming participants to:

• Settle into their seats and be comfortable at the meeting venue;

• Introduce themselves and their respective roles in the student’s life; and

• Set ground rules collectively.

What are Ground Rules?

Ground rules are important for setting the right tone for the meeting as well as reminding everyone that it is a safe, respectful and intentional space. It is important that all participants contribute to and understand the rules before starting.
